Cupping,
which is based on ancient Chinese medicine,
is a technique that has been known for at least
3,000 years.
Cupping is a therapy which uses a stimulus
to enhance the body’s own defences. This
is achieved by using the vacuum of the cups
to draw blood out of the vessels to cause a
bruise which stimulates the local blood supply.
This in turn stimulates the metabolism and
enables the body to excrete substances which
have been causing pain or discomfort. The bruise
is visible but is not usually painful as it
is a ‘healthy bruise’.
This healing process continues and the bruise
will last for a few days after the treatment
whilst it is absorbed. The anti-inflammatory
effect can be used for all diseases based on
inflammation.
Cupping is effective for relief from;
Muscle spasms, back pain,
Arthritic and rheumatic problems
Congestion in the chest resulting from colds
and flu.
Cupping has been found to affect the body up
to 100mm (4”) into the tissues which:
Improves function of inner organs including
stomach, liver, kidneys and intestines
Promotes hormone production and improves menopausal
symptoms
Releases toxins which have accumulated in the
system
Increases circulation of blood & lymph vessels
Increases immunity by release of histamine-like
substance
The aging process can be speeded up by weakness
in the system, Cupping can help slow down the
process and stimulate and strengthen
How cupping works:
The Therapist places a glass cup, which looks
like a small fishbowl, on to the skin which
creates a vacuum. The suction anchors the cup
to the body and the skin is drawn up a little
to seal itself. The cups are left on the body
whilst the area beneath is treated and the energy
is moved.
Due to the extraordinary pulling power and
heat that the cups offer, the technique is dramatic
in its reduction of pain and enhances the feeling
of well-being.
Satisfied patients over the past 3,000 years
will, no doubt, attest to its success.
